Future Science Talent Academy – 35th Session: Second-Year Students from Sapporo Asahigaoka Senior High School Learn about International Agricultural Research and “Environmentally and Human-Friendly Agriculture” Using BNI

On Monday, August 3, 2026, JIRCAS welcomed 20 second-year students from Sapporo Asahigaoka Senior Senior High School for the 35th session of the Future Science Talent Academy. The lecture was delivered by Dr. MIYANAKA Noriki, Researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, who introduced JIRCAS's efforts to address food security and environmental challenges through agricultural, forestry, and fisheries research in developing regions.

Future Science Talent Academy – 34th Session: Second-Year Students from Fukuoka Prefectural Yahata High School Learn About International Agricultural Research, High-Yield Rice Development, and Rice Paddy Fisheries

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) hosted 20 second-year students from the Science and Mathematics Course of Fukuoka Prefectural Yahata High School for the 34th session of the Future Science Talent Academy. Dr. TAKAI Toshiyuki, Senior Researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, and Dr. SAITO Minoru, Researcher in the Fisheries Division, handled the lectures.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) welcomed 66 first-year students from Salesian International School Setagaya Junior and Senior High School for the 32nd (morning) and 33rd (afternoon) sessions of the Future Science Talent Academy.

In April 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) launched the Future Science Talent Academy to provide middle and high school students, who will lead the future of science and technology, with opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research and scientific thinking.

Future Science Talent Academy – Session 28: Lecture on Fermented Food Research at Nagoya Municipal Hisakata Junior High School

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, as part of the Future Science Talent Academy, JIRCAS held its 28th session as an outreach lecture at Nagoya Municipal Hisakata Junior High School. The school organizes career talk sessions aimed at helping students learn the value of work, understand how to engage with others, and consider their future career paths. This lecture was conducted as part of that program. Students selected sessions based on their interests from six fields—food research, medical technology, beauty technology, illustration, automobile dealerships, and professional sports—and a total of 109 first-year students participated.

Future Science Talent Academy – 27th Session: First-Year Students from Touougakkan Junior & Senior High School Learn About International Agricultural Research Through Llamas

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, twenty first-year students from Touougakkan Junior & Senior  High School visited JIRCAS to take part in the 27th session of the "Future Science Talent Academy." The school is designated as a Super Science High School (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and conducts experiential learning through the “Tsukuba Science Tour,” where students experience cutting-edge scientific research. Their visit to JIRCAS was part of this program, giving them an opportunity to learn about global agricultural research and the work of international scientists.

Future Science Talent Academy – 26th Session: First-Year Students from Kumamoto Prefectural Uto High School Learn About the Use of Biotechnology in Agricultural Research

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) welcomed 19 first-year students from Kumamoto Prefectural Uto High School for the 26th session of the Future Science Talent Academy.

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) welcomed 39 first-year students from Fukushima Prefectural Soma Agricultural High School for the 25th session of the Future Science Talent Academy.
