JIRCAS Future Science Talent Academy
Under the slogan "Together for our food and planetary health," the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) addresses global issues in collaboration with partners worldwide, conducting research, technology development, and promoting technology adoption for sustainable agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
JIRCAS Future Science Talent Academy is an educational program designed to inspire students by providing opportunities to experience the power of science and international research. Aimed at nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders, the program enables students to engage directly with researchers and participate in on-site visits. These experiences allow them to discover the excitement of science and its connection to society. These activities also encourage students to reflect on their future career paths.
Lectures and Practical Training by Researchers:
JIRCAS Researchers will introduce their international research and technology development activities using a rich collection of photographs and real samples. Through interactive lectures and practical training sessions, participants will explore the background and purpose of the research, learn about ongoing local initiatives, and gain insight into future research directions. These sessions are designed to inspire participants to envision their own career paths.

Lectures and Tours at the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF)
The JIRCAS Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) on Ishigaki Island offers lectures on collaborative research related to tropical crops and fruits, as well as tours of its experimental facilities, such as greenhouses and lysimeters. Leveraging the unique local environment, it provides an opportunity to experience research activities on-site and to explore the diversity of research and global perspectives in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
Visiting and Online Lectures
When a direct visit to our facilities is not possible due to group size or when on-site technical guidance is required, we also offer visiting lectures where our researchers visit schools, as well as online lectures. Through these flexible options, we aim to bring the excitement of science to a broader audience.
