VaryAla Project

A message to current students from Project Leader Tsujimoto, recorded in conjunction with the Kyoto University Entrance Ceremony (AY2026), is now available.

Dr. Yasuhiro Tsujimoto, Project Leader of JIRCAS and the SATREPS VaryAla project, traveled to Madagascar to manage project activities and carry out yield surveys for large-scale coordinated field trials.

Project Leader Tsujimoto paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Toshima of the Embassy of Japan in Madagascar.

Project Leader Tsujimoto paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of Madagascar.

Dr. Nakagawa Andressa, a Researcher at JIRCAS and a member of SATREPS VaryAla Project (Output 1), traveled to Madagascar  for a preliminary survey. 

Yasuhiro Tsujimoto, Project Leader of JIRCAS and the SATREPS VaryAla Project, delivered a congratulatory address to new students at the Kyoto University entrance ceremony, representing alumni.

We have released a promotional video introducing the P-dipping technique, which enhances rice productivity in Madagascar.

Project Leader Yasuhiro Tsujimoto of JIRCAS and SATREPS VaryAla Featured on the Open University of Japan’s BS231 special program “A New Era for Rice” to introduce research on crop science in Africa.

Dr. Yutaro Fujimoto of the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI), a member of the SATREPS VaryAla Project (Output 4), traveled to Madagascar to conduct field research.

 

 

On February 26, 2026, the launch event for the SATREPS‑VaryAla and JICA FyVary2 projects was held in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where representatives from relevant organizations delivered remarks and introduced the project overviews, and expectation for the future development of the projects were shared.

Dr. Tomoki Oda, Senior Researcher at the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI) and a member of the SATREPS VaryAla Project (Output 4), traveled to Madagascar to conduct field surveys and fold meetings with collaborating research institutions.
