Business Trip to Madagascar–Output3, Tsukuba University, Prof. Yuko Nakano

Prof. Yuko Nakano of the University of Tsukuba, a member of Output 3 of the SATREPS VaryAla Project, traveled to Madagascar  in July to conduct field interviews.

During the visit, field interviews were conducted in and around Ankarafantsika National Park in the Boeny Region of Madagascar as part of Output 3 of the SATREPS VaryAla Project. The survey examined local awareness of P-dipping and the exchange of agricultural knowledge among farmers, while also providing insights for future research activities. In addition, information was collected on forest resource management systems, the causes and impacts of forest loss, and the current status of reforestation initiatives aimed at restoring forest landscapes.

In addition, through discussions and information sharing with counterpart research institutions in Madagascar, collaborative frameworks were strengthened to support the smooth implementation of future research activities.
