Dr. Zoniaina Ramahaimandimby, a Research Fellow at JIRCAS and a member of the SATREPS VaryAla Project (Output 3), traveled to Madagascar from February to March to prepare for a market survey. 

To facilitate the smooth implementation of the market survey under Output 3 of the SATREPS Madagascar Project, visits were conducted to seven commune markets in the Boeny Region, where a pretest of the questionnaire was carried out through interviews with market vendors. Based on the findings, the questionnaire was revised, and training sessions for enumerators were conducted to prepare for the main survey.

In addition, visits were made to commune mayors, regional administrative authorities, and other relevant institutions to establish a cooperative framework for the survey. Consultations were also held with district authorities in the Vakinankaratra Region to present the survey plan and collect information on local market regulations and conditions. Further market visits provided valuable insights that contributed to refining the questionnaire and ensuring that it reflected local realities and field conditions.
