Business Trip to Madagascar–Output2, The University of Tokyo JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow, Yuniar Devi Utami
Dr. Yuniar Devi Utami, JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Tokyo and a member of SATREPS ValyAla Project Output 2, traveled to Madagascar in July to conduct fungal culture, inoculation, and seed sowing activities using selected fungal isolates.
During this visit, seed inoculation was carried out at the field trial site in Behenjy to prepare fungi-inoculated seedlings. The inoculation utilized fungal inocula of Colletotrichum tofieldiae Ct4 and Colletotrichum spaethianum Cs5-1-1, which had been prepared in advance at the University of Tokyo. Using these inocula, seeds were treated to facilitate the production of fungi-inoculated seedlings and to prepare for upcoming field experiments. Through this study, we aim to advance our understanding of plant-beneficial fungus interactions and generate research outcomes that may contribute to improving agricultural productivity in the future.
