Business Trip to Madagascar (September): Yasuhiro Tsujimoto, Project Leader, JIRCAS

Dr. Yasuhiro Tsujimoto, Project Leader of both JIRCAS and the SATREPS VaryAla Project, traveled to Madagascar in September for project management and coordination, as well as preparations for multi-site field trials.

During this mission, he visited sites for the multi-location trials under Research Theme 1, which focuses on the development of fertilizer management technologies aimed at increasing crop yields while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Discussions were held on the experimental design for the next cropping season, and arrangements were made for the trial fields.

In addition, transplanting work was carried out in on-farm trials evaluating the effects of fungal inoculation on the growth of Brassica vegetables, and discussions were held with counterpart researchers regarding future analytical methods and monitoring approaches (Research Theme 2).

Furthermore, a meeting was held with the Director General of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the representative institution of the partner country, during which agreement was reached to hold the second Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) meeting in the last week of October.
