58 Young Agricultural Trainees from ASEAN Countries Visit JIRCAS
On Monday, February 19, 2024, 58 young agricultural trainees from Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines visited JIRCAS. The trainees were divided into two groups for an introduction to JIRCAS research (indoor lecture) and an outdoor tour at the Hachimandai Experimental Field.
Researcher Iwasaki Receives JSSSPN Best Oral Presentation Award for Young Scientist
Dr. IWASAKI Shin-ya, Researcher in the Rural Development Division, received the Best Oral Presentation Award for Young Scientist at the annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (JSSSPN) held at Ehime University.
Signing Ceremony of Work Plan with the Royal Forestry Department of Thailand
On September 25, 2023, JIRCAS and the Royal Forestry Department (RFD) of Thailand held a "Work Plan Signing Ceremony" for the Adaptive Forestry Project based on the MOU between the two institutions in the capital city of Bangkok.
Workshop Introduces Liquefaction Control Technology for Fermented Rice Noodles in Thailand
On September 19, 2023, a workshop was held in Thailand to introduce liquefaction control technology for fermented rice noodles (Thai name: khanomjeen). This technology was jointly developed by JIRCAS and the Institute of Food Research and Product Development of Kasetsart University, Thailand, and is included in the technology catalog published by JIRCAS in the project "Accelerating application of agricultural technologies that enhance production potentials and ensure sustainable food systems in the Asia-Monsoon region" of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). Senior Researcher MARUI Junichiro participated in the workshop as a project collaborator.
JIRCAS' Outstanding Contribution Recognized at 2023 Science and Technology Fair in Thailand
The Thailand National Science and Technology Fair is the country’s largest annual exhibition showcasing science and technology to promote and foster public interest. This year, it was held for 10 days from August 11-20 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Nonthaburi Province. During the event, there were approximately 200,000 visitors, mostly local elementary, middle and high school students.
JIRCAS Received Recognition Award at the Thailand National Science and Technology Fair 2022
The Thailand National Science and Technology Fair is Thailand's largest science and technology exhibition held once a year. This year, it was held for nine days from August 13 to 21 at the Impact Exhibition and Conference Center in Nonthaburi Province. JIRCAS exhibited the Brachiaria variety "Issan," the result of international joint research with the Department of Livestock Development, Thailand. The exhibitors received an award for its contribution to science and technology education in Thailand.
Publication of “Healthy Seedcane Propagation and Distribution Manual Against Sugarcane White Leaf Disease”
A manual for measures against the sugarcane white leaf disease, which causes great damage in the Asian region especially in Thailand, and created in collaboration with Khon Kaen University etc. was published by the Office of Cane and Sugar Board of Thailand.
JIRCAS joined Thailand National Science and Technology Fair 2013
JIRCAS joined the Thailand National Science and Technology Fair 2013 in Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangkok, Thailand, which was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Government during 6 – 21 August 2013. JIRCAS has joined the fair every year since 2007.
Srinakharinwirot University (Thailand) delegation visits JIRCAS
A delegation from the Faculty of Economics, Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand, including Dr. Suwimon Hengpatana (Assistant Dean), Dr. Hiroyuki Konuma (Visiting Professor), Dr. Nantarat Tangvitoontham (Assistant Professor) and graduate school students, visited JIRCAS on November 28, 2019.
2nd International Workshop on Network Development and Information Sharing for Management of Sugarcane White Leaf Disease
The 2nd International Workshop on Network Development and Information Sharing for Management of Sugarcane White Leaf Disease in Asia was held in Khon Kaen, Thailand on February 19-20, 2018. The workshop co-organized by JIRCAS, Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University and Khon Kaen Field Crop Research Center, Department of Agriculture was attended by more than 50 participants from research institutions in the United States, India, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Japan.
