Researcher Muraoka and Colleagues Win Best Paper Award at the 11th ASAE International Conference
Dr. MURAOKA Rie (Researcher, Social Sciences Division) and her colleagues won the Best Paper Award (3rd prize) for their research entitled "Sustainable Intensification of Maize Farming in Kenya: Evidence from a Longitudinal Smallholder Survey” presented at the t the 11th International Conference of the Asian Society of Agricultural Economics (ASAE) held at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo on March 18-20, 2023.
TICAD VI Side Event on Forestry Management in Africa
The TICAD VI side event co-organized by JIRCAS, Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), EverGreen Agriculture Partnership, and wPower HUB was held on August 25 and 26, 2016 at the ICRAF Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

JIRCAS President Dr. Masa Iwanaga had a bilateral meeting with President Alpha Condé of the Republic of Guinea on August 26, 2016. Pres. Iwanaga who is visiting the Republic of Kenya to attend the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) in Nairobi, Kenya as a member of the Prime Minister's economic mission.

Directors of Agricultural Research Institutes in Africa Visit JIRCAS
The heads of 5 agricultural research institutes from Africa, namely, Dr. Famoï Béavogui, Director of Agricultural Research Institute of Guinea (IRAG); Dr. Alioune Fall, Director of Senegal Agricultural Research Institute (ISRA); Dr. Joseph G. Mureithi, Deputy Director of Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO); and Dr. Robert B. Zougmore, African Regional Leader of the Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), together with Dr. Regina Sagoe West, Senior Researcher at Crop Research Institute (CSIR-CRI) and Coordinator of West African Agricultural Production Program (WAAPP) of the International Research Center for Semiarid Tropical Crops (ICRISAT), visited JIRCAS on August 28, 2017.

On 19 January 2018, JIRCAS in cooperation with the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held an international workshop on “Sustainable Rural Bioenergy Solutions in Africa” at the ICRAF International Conference Center in Nairobi, Kenya.
