Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (KEPCO) has adopted the Indoor Shrimp Production System (ISPS), a land-based aquaculture method for production and processing of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), developed by the industry-academia-government collaboration that includes JIRCAS, IMT Engineering Inc.etc.

The ISPS facilitates the production of marine shrimp in completely closed circulation type land-based aquaculture system that circulates and filters water without adding chemicals. It therefore contributes to the reduction of environmental impact such as marine pollution and enables the safe and high-quality production that consumers demand.
