JIRCAS Report - Uzbekistan
On October 14, 2021, H.E. Mr. Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, visited JIRCAS and exchanged opinions with President Koyama and other executive staff.
A workshop entitled “JIRCAS Research on Measures against salinization” was held in Toshkent City, Uzbekistan on March 12, 2017. JIRCAS has been carrying out a “Survey on Countermeasures against Salt Damage of Agricultural Lands by Controlling Groundwater” with subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) since FY2013.
The paper of Dr. Yukio Okuda entitled “Problems and Measures for the Adoption of Cut-drain and Its Applicability to Soil Conditions in Uzbekistan” published in the Journal of the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering was awarded as 2018 JSIDRE Best Paper.
JIRCAS seminar titled “Shallow sub-surface drainage for mitigating salinization” held in the Republic of Uzbekistan
On November 29, 2017, a seminar on mitigating salinization was held by JIRCAS in Gulistan City, Syrdarya Region, Republic of Uzbekistan.
