On June 19th, JIRCAS welcomed Dr. Victor Kommerell, BNI-Mission Director, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). He discussed with Mr. Koyama, President and other administrators to deepen the strategic partnership between JIRCAS and CIMMYT.
He also gave a seminar on the CropSustaiN project centered at CIMMYT and funded by the world's largest philanthropic foundation, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, which aims to scale up BNI-enabled wheat globally to improve productivity and sustainability. The project is expected to be launched in July, 2024.

JIRCAS currently has activities on BNI-enabled wheat which developed with CIMMYT for introduction in Japan, India and Nepal. JIRCAS, together with its strategic partner, CIMMYT, is committed to improving productivity and sustainability in food production systems worldwide.
