President Koyama Speaks at FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations held the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022, with the theme “Harnessing science, technology and innovation for transforming our agrifood systems”, from October 17-21 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome.

Following the outcomes of the UN Food Systems Summit "Days of Science" event held last year, the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022, with the theme “Harnessing science, technology and innovation for transforming our agrifood systems”, from October 17-21 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome.

At the invitation of FAO Chief Scientist Dr. Ismahane Elouafi, JIRCAS President KOYAMA Osamu, participated in the discussion titled "Chief Scientists' round Table: Science and Innovation for SDG Goal 2 (Zero Hunger)”. At this session, Pres. Koyama shared his views on how science, technology, and innovation are integrated into Japan's agricultural, food security, and SDG policies, as well as the obstacles that need to be overcome and the measures to address them, while introducing Japan's Sustainable Food System Strategy “MeaDRI" and research results from JIRCAS.

The discussion was attended by past presidents of the G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) and others.
