A group of 28 third-year students and 3 teachers from Kosakai Junior High School in Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture visited JIRCAS on October 5, 2020 through the Tsukuba Science Tour program to learn about the research sites and research activities of JIRCAS.

Visits from schools were canceled one after another this year due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Upon the relaxation of movement and travel restrictions, Kosakai Junior High School was the first to visit JIRCAS.Various preventive measures such as maintaining social distancing between students were observed during the visit.

The JIRCAS initiatives on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were introduced to the students with an overview of projects on climate change, food situation in Africa, and food value chain, providing an opportunity for the students to think about the actual situation of the world's agriculture, forestry and fisheries industry and the environmental and food problems in developing countries.
