JIRCAS International Symposium 2018 focuses on “Women in Fisheries: Sustainable Development Goals and Contributions to Research and Industry”

The JIRCAS International Symposium 2018 with the theme “Women in Fisheries: Sustainable Development Goals and Contributions to Research and Industry” will be held at the U Thant International Conference Hall of the United Nations University (UNU) in Shibuya, Tokyo on November 6, 2018.

The JIRCAS International Symposium 2018 with the theme “Women in Fisheries: Sustainable Development Goals and Contributions to Research and Industry” will be held at the U Thant International Conference Hall of the United Nations University (UNU) in Shibuya, Tokyo on November 6, 2018. This year’s symposium features leading female administrators and scientists in the field of fisheries who will share their research findings and views on the need for the active participation, involvement, and leadership contribution of women working in fisheries research and technology development, with the over-arching aim of securing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) leading to food security and a healthy future.

The symposium is co-organized with the Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency (FRA), in cooperation with the MAFF Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council Secretariat (AFFRC), the Japan Fisheries Agency, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), Greater Tokyo Initiative, and the Japan Forum on International Agricultural Research for Sustainable Development.
