Overview
The Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) of JIRCAS will hold its 58th Public Lecture, entitled “Utilization of Sugar Industry Residues in Sugarcane Cultivation,” on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Ishigaki City Health and Welfare Center.
In sugarcane production, the use of sugar-processing residues is an important practice not only for increasing sugarcane yields, improving soil fertility, and substituting for chemical fertilizers, but also for enhancing farm management and profitability. In this lecture, researchers will explain the various types of residues generated during the sugar manufacturing process, the current status and benefits of returning these residues to sugarcane fields, and the technological developments being undertaken by JIRCAS, including application methods and other approaches for the effective utilization of sugar-industry residues.
We warmly welcome all interested participants.
