Science Q at Katsuragi Elementary School
In conjunction with the Science Q program of Tsukuba Science City, Dr. Kouki Maeda, Senior Researcher of the Crop Livestock and Environment Division gave an on-site lesson to Grade 6 pupils of Katsuragi Elementary School on January 31, 2019.

The 47th TARF Public Lecture with the theme “Organic Agriculture for Reduction of Global Warming and Maintenance of Crop Productivity” was held at Ishigaki City, Okinawa Pref. on February 28, 2019.

The TARF Open House Day was held on June 30, 2019 featuring events and exhibitions that showcase the research activities including international collaborations that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
21st Century Hope Prize at the Fifth Niigata International Food Award
Dr. Kotaro Maeno, a researcher in the Crop, Livestock and Environment Division, was among those chosen to receive the Fifth Niigata International Food Award, winning in the 21st Century Hope Prize category.
JIRCAS Workshop on ”Sustainable Resource Management and Environmental Conservation in the Pacific Islands” and Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Physical Hydrology held in Ishigaki
A satellite workshop titled “Sustainable Resource Management and Environmental Conservation in the Pacific Islands” was organized by JIRCAS and held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Physical Hydrology (JSPH) at the Nobumoto Ohama Memorial Hall in Ishigaki, Okinawa, on November 16, 2018.

The 2014 U.S.-Japan Council (USJC)-American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) Women in Business Summit was held at the ANA InterContinental Hotel in Tokyo on May 27, 2014. Dr. Marcy Wilder of the JIRCAS Fisheries Division attended the Summit as a speaker. The Summit aimed to bring together Japan’s many diverse women’s organizations that are working toward the goals of better conditions for and representation of women in the working environment in Japan, and featured a full program of speakers, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities throughout the day.
