Dr. Yasunari Fujita and Dr. Kyonoshin Maruyama, senior researchers in the Biological Resources and Post-harvest Division, were named to the global “Highly Cited Researchers 2018” list in the Plant and Animal Science category. This marked their fifth straight year of inclusion in the prestigious list provided by Clarivate Analytics, which owns and operates a collection of subscription-based services focused largely on analytics including scientific and academic research, patent analytics and regulatory standards, pharmaceutical and biotech intelligence, trademark protection, domain brand protection and intellectual property management. According to the company’s website, the list recognizes world-class researchers for their “exceptional research performance, demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science” (https://hcr.clarivate.com/).

Dr. Fujita and Dr. Maruyama have been conducting molecular biology research with the aim of developing crops that are resistant to environmental stresses, thereby contributing to the stable production of globally important agricultural crops.
