Pres. Iwanaga at the Nobel Prize Dialogue Tokyo 2018

The Nobel Prize Dialogue Tokyo 2018, gathering five Nobel Prize winners including 2016 Nobel Laureate in Physiology, Professor Emeritus Yoshinori Ohsumi, was held in Pacifico Yokohama on March 11, 2018. JIRCAS President Dr. Masa Iwanaga was one of the panelists together with the world’s leading scientists, key opinion leaders, and policy makers.

The Nobel Prize Dialogue Tokyo 2018, gathering five Nobel Prize winners including 2016 Nobel Laureate in Physiology, Professor Emeritus Yoshinori Ohsumi, was held in Pacifico Yokohama on March 11, 2018.  JIRCAS President Dr. Masa Iwanaga was one of the panelists together with the world’s leading scientists, key opinion leaders, and policy makers.

The event was organized by the Nobel Media AB in cooperation with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) with the aim of stimulating discussion at the highest level on a topical on the future of food. Pres. Iwanaga gave an introductory lecture in the panel discussion on “Can We Feed 10 Billion? Innovation and Sustainability" and was a moderator in the Stream 3 session on Sustainability (Emerging Countries) participated by Dr. Finn E. Kydland (2004 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences), Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina (African Development Bank), Dr. Howarth E. Bouis (International Food Policy Research Institute) and Dr. Marion Guillou (French Agricultural, Veterinary and Forestry Institute). More than 1000 participants attended including about 100 students from Japan and overseas.
