Director of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture Visits JIRCAS

The Director of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, who is currently in Japan, visited JIRCAS on April 6, 2015 and gave a presentation entitled "IITA: the Leading Research Partner in Africa - Repositioning IITA for Impact in Africa".

The Director of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, who is currently in Japan, visited JIRCAS on April 6, 2015. IITA is one of the research organizations affiliated with the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and has international bases in agricultural research in the tropical African zone, with headquarters in Nigeria as well as East, Central and Southern Africa. IITA, which conducts research on agricultural development in humid and semi-arid regions to eliminate hunger and poverty in Africa, has built a long-standing cooperative relationship with JIRCAS and is currently conducting joint research on yam and cowpea. Director Sanginga met with executive officers including JIRCAS President Masa Iwanaga, Vice-President Osamu Koyama and other executive staff. He also gave a presentation entitled “IITA: the Leading Research Partner in Africa - Repositioning IITA for Impact in Africa”.
