About the Online Open House

JIRCAS is conducting research that contributes to the sustainability of agriculture, forestry and fisheries and the stable production of agricultural products in developing regions such as the tropics and subtropics of the world. For Japan, which depends on foreign countries for much of its food, the development of agricultural technology for sustainable agricultural production in developing regions is extremely important. Solving the world's agriculture, forestry and fisheries problems will only be possible through collaboration among countries. At JIRCAS, research activities are carried out in collaboration with research institutes in Asia, Africa and South America.

All activities this year will be organized online as a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. A special site for the open house has been set up for on-demand streaming of mini-lectures to be presented by research staff, aerial videos featuring agriculture and the environment in Africa, and other fun activities that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike. Furthermore, special mini-lectures on the food system and transboundary insect pests will be streamed live on April 17th (Sat) from 14:00 to 15:00 JST. Pre-registration is required but those who want to watch only can enjoy the mini-lectures on YouTube and there is no need to register.

These online events offer the unique opportunity for the general public to learn more about the research programs of JIRCAS and have a deeper understanding of  international agriculture, forestry and fisheries research.
