Business Trip to Madagascar–Output3, Tsukuba University, Prof. Yuko Nakano
Prof. Yuko Nakano of the University of Tsukuba, a member of Output 3 of the SATREPS VaryAla Project, traveled to Madagascar from July to August for an intervention experiment and survey preparation.
During this mission, three districts in the Vakinankaratra Region—the main target areas for the intervention experiment and survey under Output 3—were visited. Based on field observations, potential factors that could hinder the implementation of the survey and intervention were assessed from a professional perspective. In consultation with the accompanying researcher, the survey design and questionnaire content were finalized, and preparation for enumerator training were advanced.
Following this mission, enumerator training, the baseline survey, and the intervention activities are scheduled to be implemented sequentially. As this visit represented the final opportunity to revise the survey instruments and implementation framework prior to full-scale rollout, direct field confirmation of local conditions was undertaken.
