What motivated you to apply at JIRCAS?

　At first, I was interested in various national research institutes and independent administrative agencies, but as I was searching for potential jobs, I was attracted by the uniqueness of JIRCAS. While many independent administrative agencies conducting similar research were merging and growing larger, I was attracted by the uniqueness of JIRCAS because it is an independent research organization that maintains a small scale. I also wanted to be a part of this organization because I could relate to its goal of contributing to a stable food supply for the world.

What are some of the best and most rewarding experiences you have had in your current job?

　I am mainly in charge of payment operations in the Accounting Section, but as I work for an international organization, I deal with clients from all over the world. It is one of the best experiences I have had because it is a rare opportunity to deal with many suppliers and research institutes around the world and to move a large amount of money in various currencies.
　I am also responsible for the payment of salaries and wages for all employees. I feel a great sense of responsibility in handling the country's money, and since I am often pressed for time to meet payment deadlines, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when I successfully complete my work.

What message would you like to convey to everyone?

　I have only been with JIRCAS for half a year, but I found that the atmosphere in the workplace is very warm, and if you have any problems, colleagues will help you regardless of your affiliation or age. There are many friendly and kind senior staff with whom you can easily talk about personal matters. As a necessary institution in the country, there is of course stability in terms of employment, including a full benefits package. Looking at my senior colleagues, I strongly believe that it is an environment where it is easy to achieve a work-life balance.
