Ethiopia

Ethiopia (/ˌiːθiˈoʊpiə/; Amharic: ኢትዮጵያ?, ʾĪtyōṗṗyā, ), officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (የኢትዮጵያ ፌዴራላዊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሪፐብሊክ, yeʾĪtiyoṗṗya Fēdēralawī Dēmokirasīyawī Rīpebilīk ), is a sovereign state located in the Horn of Africa. It shares a border with Eritrea to the north and northeast, Djibouti and Somalia to the east, Sudan and South Sudan to the west, and Kenya to the south. With nearly 100 million inhabitants, Ethiopia is the most populous landlocked country in the world, as well as the second-most populous nation on the African continent after Nigeria.(Source: DBpedia)

JIRCAS Participates in Ceremony for the Water and Soil Conservation Project in Tigray, Ethiopia

TAKENAKA Koichi (Senior Researcher, Rural Development Division) and Dr. NISHIGAKI Tomohiro (Researcher, Crop, Livestock and Environment Division) of JIRCAS were invited at a ceremony held on February 21, 2020 to promote the water and soil conservation project in Tsada Naele community, Kilte Awlaelo district, Tigray regional state, Ethiopia.

JIRCAS at the First IFNA Steering Committee Meeting

The First Steering Committee (SC) Meeting for the Initiative for Food and Nutrition Security in Africa (IFNA) was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on May 17, 2017, and JIRCAS participated as a steering committee member.
