Business Trip to Madagascar–Output 1, JIRCAS Senior Researcher, Aung Zaw Oo
Dr. Aung Zaw Oo, a Senior Researcher at JIRCAS and a member of SATREPS VaryAla Project Output 1, traveled to Madagascar in August to select suitable sites for the upcoming field experiments.
Field observations were conducted in the Behenjy and Ankarafantsika regions to identify suitable rice fields for future greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement trials during the rainy season under the SATREPS Madagascar 2 project. Based on consultations with local farmers and assessments of soil characteristics and management practices, two promising fields at each site were selected for the upcoming trials scheduled for December 2025. These activities also provided an opportunity to discuss potential collaboration with farmers within the framework of the project.
