The Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) located in the City of Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture holds the 15th TARF Open House online from November 8 (Mon) to 14 (Sun), 2021 to introduce our research activities to the public as part of the outreach program for this fiscal year.

The Open House was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be the first time to hold the event online. Therefore, it is accessible not only to the residents of Ishigaki but also to those from other parts of Japan as well as overseas.  

This year’s event consists of several activities including 2 special mini-lectures and 3 mini-lectures to introduce the institute and various research outputs, activities for children in Nekken-kun’s Room, where our mascot character will give original playing papers, testing one’s knowledge of Ishigaki Island using landscape photos, and a looking-back corner featuring posters and reports of previous events at TARF, and other activities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. 

We hope this online event will provide an opportunity to deepen the relationship between TARF and the general public, to disseminate information that can be useful for daily life, and to increase awareness on issues affecting agriculture, food and the environment. Please join us at the TARF Online Open House 2021 and enjoy!
