Business Trip to Madagascar (January- February2026): Tomohiro Nishigaki,Senior Researcher, JIRCAS

Dr.Tomohiro Nishigaki , Senior Researcher of JIRCAS and the SATREPS VaryAla project, traveled to Madagascar  from January to February to conduct field surveys, and hold meetings with partner research institutions. 

During this business trip, field surveys were conducted at rice cultivation trial sites located in paddy fields along two rivers in Ankarafantsika National Park. The activities included monitoring rice growth and replanting rice seedlings in experimental plots. Surface soil samples were also collected from 21 paddy field sites along another river for physicochemical analysis.

Furthermore, maintenance of meteorological monitoring equipment installed at hydrological monitoring sites was carried out, and support was provided for the activities of JICA interns.
