The 10th farmers’ Workshop was held on June 4th, 2026

On June 4, 2026, the 10th Farmers' Workshop was held, primarily to provide explanations regarding pump operation methods and water management.

Prior to the workshop, on May 28, four representatives from the Farmer Water User Sub-Community (FWUSC) at the project site were invited to receive explanations on pump and gate operation and to select an operator. These facilities are scheduled to be transferred to the FWUSC for management.

On June 4, a tent was set up next to the pump pit to serve as the venue, and the workshop was held. The Cambodian project leader explained the project's purpose and called for cooperation in implementing intermittent irrigation going forward. In particular, he emphasized that utilizing the new electric pumps and gates, which were previously used by each farmer, is expected to reduce fuel costs and improve water use efficiency. He also conveyed that, since the management of pumps and gates will be transferred to the FWUSC, farmers and the FWUSC will need to take responsibility for their maintenance, along with the irrigation channels.

Furthermore, Japanese experts explained the operation methods of the pumps and gates and introduced the operator. A demonstration of the pump operation followed, drawing exclamations of admiration as water was supplied with great force.

This year, despite the start of the rainy season, there is insufficient water in the main irrigation channel. In response to questions from farmers, an official from the Pursat Province Department of Water Resources and Meteorology explained that the water release was delayed because the water level in the upstream reservoirs had not yet reached the required level, and asked for understanding, stating that sufficient water is expected to be supplied by mid-June.
