The second Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) was held on March 5th

On March 5th, 2026, the Second Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting was held at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in Phnom Penh. The meeting was attended by Japanese experts participating in the project, as well as representative from Cambodian counterparts-Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) along with officials from Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Ministry of Environment, the Pursat Provincial Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, the Pursat Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, and the JICA Cambodian Office.

The JCC meeting included a progress report on the joint research activities conducted in fiscal year 2025 and the activity plan for fiscal year 2026 was approved. Additionally, the proposed target values for the previously undetermined PDM indicators, as well as proposed changes regarding training in Japan and the provision of equipment, were also approved. The discussions and decisions reached at the JCC were documented in the minute of meeting (M/M) and signed by representatives from both Cambodia and Japan. 

Starting next fiscal year, project team members from both Cambodia and Japan will work together as one to advance joint research activities, aiming to develop a water management system that reduces methane emissions from paddy fields and to demonstrate the introduction of intermittent irrigation.
