Breeding in the laboratory of the smallest ruminant, lesser mousedeer(Tragulus javanicus), as a new laboratory animal
Description
[Synopsis]
Breeding in the laboratory of captured lesser mousedeer (Tragulus javanicus) had been attempted in many institutes but has been unsuccessful. We were able to domesticate and breed this smallest ruminant in the laboratory by the use of small cage for small experimental animals and special care for handling and feeding. The usefulness of mousedeer as an experimental laboratory animal was studied.
