Business Trip to Madagascar (February): Tetsuro Kikuchi, Senior Researcher, JIRCAS
Dr. Tetsuro Kikuchi, Senior Researcher at JIRCAS and a member of SATREPS VaryAla Project (Output 4), traveled to Madagascar for field surveys and discussions with collaborating research institutions
As part of the SATREPS Madagascar Project, a hydrological and water quality survey was conducted in Ankarafantsika National Park (AKF) and its surrounding areas.
During the field survey, observation data on water level, turbidity, and meteorological parameters were collected from two gauging weirs that had been installed during a previous survey. In addition, water quality measurements and water sampling for chemical analyses were carried out at 13 river sites, 4 spring sites, 1 well site, and the outflows from the gauging weirs in western AKF and the surrounding region.
Subsequently, discussions were held with collaborators from the Faculty of Science, University of Antananarivo (ISTE), and opinions were exchanged regarding the future direction and promotion of the research.
