Business Trip to Madagascar (September): Tomoki Oda, Senior Researcher, FFPRI
Dr. Tomoki Oda, a Senior Researcher at FFPRI and a member of SATREPS VaryAla Project Output 4, traveled to Madagascar in September for field investigations and meetings with collaborating research institutions.
Two small catchments with different upstream vegetation were selected as targets for hydrological investigation in Ankarafantsika National Park. We installed weirs in each catchment to measure river discharge and began monitoring water levels. In addition, a meteorological station was installed to measure climatic variables such as precipitation, solar radiation, wind speed, air temperature, and humidity, and observations have been initiated.
Furthermore, we held a meeting with our collaborators at the Institute of Radiological Sciences, University of Antananarivo, to discuss plans for advancing the research in the coming years.
