Simulation analysis of food security using a food supply-demand model
Description
[Synopsis]
A simulation analysis was conducted using an econometric model, which was partially modified from a food supply-demand model built in OECD. The results shows that introduction of trade liberalization policy in the low-income food deficit countries in Asia would undermine the food security situation in the region, if external shocks such as crop failure in food exporting countries or currency depreciation in food importing countries occurred.
