Cryopreservation of shoot tips of taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) shott) by vitrification
Description
[Synopsis]
In vitro-grown shoot tips of taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) shott) were successfully cryopreserved by vitrification. By the protocol developed in this study, the average rate of shoot recovery amounted to 100% for the triploid taro cultivars and 80% for the diploid taro cultivars. The protocol appeared to be very promising for the long term preservation of taro germplasm.
