This species is an epiphyte and forms thin, crusty, calcified, amorphous patches on other marine plants such as Enhalus or Sargassum. The color of this seaweed is pinkish to light red when it is alive, and white when dried. It is found in subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
