This plant is similar to 
C. serrulata var. boryana however the 
branchlets of this seaweed are spirally 
twisted upwards. The plants tend to grow on muddy or sandy surfaces or on rocks that are covered with a thin sand layer in 
subtidal zones along wave sheltered shorelines.
