Dr. Tsujimoto and Professor Kitajima Speak at the UGSA–UF–JIRCAS Joint Symposium
On December 16 and 17, the “KUGSA–UF–JIRCAS Joint Symposium: Food Systems and the Global South” was held at the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University. The symposium was jointly organized by the University of Florida (UF) and the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS).
Dr. Tsujimoto, Principal Investigator of the project, delivered a lecture entitled “Sustainable Intensification of Rice Farming Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa: Pathways Toward Food Security and Planetary Health,” in which he presented initiatives and findings from the SATREPS project.
In addition, a panel discussion was moderated by Professor Kitajima of Kyoto University, Leader of Task 4. The discussion addressed the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and multifaceted perspectives in responding to increasingly complex global challenges, as well as the need for research frameworks that effectively connect scientific outcomes with local communities and on-the-ground practices.
