Effect of windbreak rows made of a conbination of several tree species on crop growth and improvement of micro-climatic conditions

Country
China

Description

[Synopsis]

It is important to improve the climatic conditions in the marginal area extending from barren land (“desert”) to farm land (“oasis”) to prevent desertification in arid lands. It was shown that the micro-climatic conditions of farm land were improved and alleviated by the construction of windbreak raws made of a combination of several tree species and also that the growth and development of crops were promoted and crop yields increased by windbreaks under the adverse climatic conditions including high temperature ,low humidity and strong wind that prevail at Turpan in Northwest China.
