Morphological Traits: Leaf shape and branching

How does a mango leaf look like?

Long and shiny mango leaves

The leaves of the mango are oval with a pointed tip and base (see photo). Each node of the stem has one leaf pointing in opposite directions (in botany, this is called "alternate").
The way the branches grow depends on the climate and the cultivar, but in the case of the Irwin cultivated in greenhouses in Japan, new branches emerge two to three times a year.
