These plants are composed of fluid-filled, dark greenish cylindrical and branched segments that are narrow, 1-2 mm in diameter and 1.5-2.0 cm long. This seaweed creeps on rocks that are covered with a thin sand layer in lower intertidal zones along shorelines with calm water movement such as reef flats or in tidal pools.
