This species is stalkless and leaves arise from the rhizome directly. The leaves are bright green, up to 1 mm in width, 2-12 cm in length and slightly toothed tips. Flowers are borne on a coiled stalk. The plants form dense communities in very calm waters such as brackish water aquaculture ponds or canals.
