The plants are crusty, slick, flat, flabellate to reniform, and calcified on the under surface. Although most of this plant attaches firmly to the substrates, the marginal portions are free. There are concentric lines on the surface. The edges of this seaweed roll up when it is dried. It is found on the side of rock walls in subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.

Fresh specimen.
