The plants are club-shaped, calcified and slightly bent. The upper portion of the species is bright green and covered with numerous fine fibres. The mid to basal mature portion is white and strongly calcified, forming sporangia when it is mature. This seaweed grows on rocks and dead coral somewhat covered with coarse sand in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along calm to wave exposed shorelines.
