The thin, lobe-shaped plant is strongly calcified, crusty and brittle. It overlaps itself, giving the whole clump an indeterminate shape. The lower parts are firmly adherent to substrates, but the upper parts are free. This plant is pinkish in color, with a dull gloss and found on shady rocks or under ledges in subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
