This species has flat and moderately calcified segments that can be fan-shaped, wedge-shaped, round or kidney-shaped, with entire, undulated or irregularly projected upper margins. The holdfast is bulbous, and is composed of sand and thin roots. The plants are bright green to green in color, and found on hard and soft sandy surfaces in subtidal zones along calm shorelines such as reef flats.
