This species is composed of a short stipe that is covered with numerous short, dark reddish filaments. The branches are cylindrical and dichotomous, with a smooth surface and are white to pinkish white in color. The plants are fragile when dried. This seaweed is found on rocks or dead coral in subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
