This species has erect 1-3 mm wide branches that are strap-shaped, strongly twisted, dichotomously branched with a wide angle, and entire margins with slightly aculeate tips. The plants grow on rocks, gravel or other seaweeds such as Sargassum species in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along moderately wave exposed shorelines.
