The filaments of this plant are cylindrical, 70-100 µm in diameter and repeatedly branched dichotomously with constrictions at branching points. The plants grow up to 10 cm tall forming dark green tufts on rocks in subtidal zones along moderate to strongly wave exposed shorelines.
