The plants have terete to slightly compressed branches, which are annulate, irregularly alternate, and bear clavate and stubby branchlets. This seaweed is pale pink with successive fluorescent blue annuli, and form soft clumps on rocks or attach to other seaweeds in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along shorelines with moderate water activity.
