The erect and grape-like branches arise from runners. The branchlets have spherical terminal portions that are 1-2 mm in diameter, and densely cover almost the entire length of the erect branches. There is distinct constriction between the spherical portions and short stalks on the branchlets. This species grows on rocks, gravel, and sandy surfaces in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along shorelines with frequent gentle currents.
